SIMON EVANS

Intelligent, supremely well-composed. Observational comedy at it's very best - The Scotsman
Rich, complex comedy – Chortle

STAR OF BBC1’S ‘MICHAEL MCINTRYE’S COMEDY ROADSHOW’, BBC RADIO 4’S ‘THE NEWS QUIZ’ AND ‘THE UNBELIEVABLE TRUTH’

A veteran of sell-out shows worldwide (Montreal, Aspen, Edinburgh, New Zealand, Cape Town), Evans excels in routines that are adult in the best sense of the word prompting reviewers to describe him as ‘Demonically dry’ (Metro) and ‘Sublime’ (The Guardian).  In 2005 Simon was honoured as one of only three British comics invited to perform at the prestigious Aspen Comedy Festival, alongside Stewart Lee and Eddie Izzard.

Simon is in high demand as a comedy writer and has collaborated with many other comedians including Dara O Briain, Sean Lock, Jimmy Carr and Marcus Brigstocke.  He is one of the main writers on the hit BBC ONE sitcom Lee Mack’s Not Going Out and can also currently be seen supporting Lee Mack on his 106 date UK tour.

He is a stalwart of BBC Radio 4 comedy having appeared on The News Quiz (three series and counting!), The Unbelievable Truth and Armando Ianucci’s Charm Offensive. He has hosted and served as principal writer on seven series of Radio 4’s The Way It Is. Other writing plaudits include sketch show The Odd Half Hour (BBC Radio 4) and Lee Mack’s BBC Radio 2 show.

As well as a contributor to radio Simon is also a prevalent writer for television with credits including; Not Going Out (three series, BBC ONE), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), The Late Edition (BBC FOUR),The Big Breakfast (Channel 4), Lily Savage, Johnny Vaughan Tonight, The State We're In, Revolver (BBC ONE) and Would I Lie to You? (Channel 4).

As well as appearances on numerous panel games and discussion programmes Simon has given acclaimed acting performances in Rich Hall’s Cattle Drive and Rich Hall’s Fishing Show (both BBC Four). He was also instrumental in creating and writing for the majorly successful comedy debate show Argumental (Dave TV).
